A Suitable Boy, Episode 1, Review: Ishaan Khattar Impresses with his Pls Fall In Love with Me looks

ishaan

As the Mira Nair series A Suitable Boy started streaming, we see Ishaan embarking upon as a star in it. We find him in his raw and fresh look which is hard to see in actors of his age group. This has brought him in his sudden stardom. He looks cool with puppy dog eyes coming out as an older woman playing courtesan Saeeda Ba played by Tabu. It may appear unfair to review the first episode of the said show, however, looking at the 1500 plus age book, it can be justified to do the same.

We see the characters being introduced in quick succession thus knowing the Mehras, the Khans, the Kapoors, and the Chatterjis. Some of the characters seemed too awkward while speaking in English, hence what if Nair could have allowed them to speak Hindi. However, soon this will not matter to the audience, as they are easily pulled inside the fictional town of Brahmpur. All thanks to the ensemble of rich characters the director has made in the first episode.

Soon the characters of the book come alive in the show as per the script written by Andrew Davies. The man who holds expertise in it as seen earlier in the films like Pride and Prejudice, Les Misérables and House of Cards. The story in the first episode seemed incredible as the makers were able to portray them so well in different places as seen in it. The director steals the show as she was able to portray so many characters nicely giving justice to them, which somewhere remained a challenge.

Needless to talk about the costumes, the sets and other things, which went at par to the requirement of such genre. In short, Khattar was seen stealing the show with his please fall in love with me looks as clearly seen in his eyes in his first look. It would be rather fair to say that Khattar was born only to play this character Maan Kapoor. His efforts to play the character so well is the crux of the first episode.
