It seems the biopic bug has caught Bollywood big time. Many movies are being made on legends and sportsperson are the favorite, especially with movies like “Mary Kom” and “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” proving to be big-time successes at the box office. Now, Ekta Kapoor will be showing us the life story of celebrated Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin in the movie “Azhar” that is set to release in May, next year. The teaser has already been released to rave reviews and it is being said that the movie will give Emraan Hashmi his due status in Bollywood.
He is essaying the role of the successful Indian captain who fell from grace after he was charged with match fixing. He has been paired opposite Prachi Desai who will play the role of his first wife Naureen and Nargis Fakhri who will be playing Sangeeta Bijlani, popular actress and his second wife. Completely in tune with the teaser that sums up the life of Azhar in three words- God, marriage and match fixing, the movie will capture the captain’s life history around these three events that wielded the maximum impact on his life.
Directed by Tony D’Souza who wielded the microphone for Blue and Boss, the movie has music by Pritam and it will also see Huma Qureshi, Manjot Singh and Gautam Gulati in important roles. Emraan has worked very hard for the movie and has picked up the body language of Azharuddin perfectly, especially his trademark lopsided walk.
