A certificate for Mardaani

A certificate for Mardaani

The Censor Board has finally given the movie Mardaani the A certificate. Despite the producer Aditya Chopra tried his best to explain the subject being simple and a movie, which can be even watched by kids above age 12, things still vain before the board. However, the censor board simply rejected his plea and categorized the movie with A certificate. This makes Mardaani the first ever Yash Raj Film’s A category movie. According to the spokesman, the story in the movie deals with educating the women against the atrocities from men especially on the young girls both below and above 12 years of age.

Despite the plea to get the certificate of U/A, the censor board was blunt enough to categorize the movie in A. In fact, the producer of the movie has also flashed the message over its poster that the film is not for kids below 12 years yet the Censor Board rejected this plea and even banned teens below 18 to watch the movie.  According to the board, their action is in compliance as set by the Censor Board and they cannot go against the rule of the book.

The official further said that it is not a matter of just one scene or dialogue, which can be deleted to give the U/A certificate, but the subject itself covered in the movie, which has compelled the entire board to recommend for the A category. The board feels that the subject covered in the movie happens to be very much sensitive and allowing girls above 12 and below their adulthood can create problems. Well as far as Mardani is concerned, it is a gritty movie based on Human Trafficking wherein Rani is seen playing the character of a police officer, which is hitting the screen on 22nd August.
