This name is not an unpopular actor in B Town. He has appeared in a number of supporting actor roles with utter professionalism and skills. He comes from Kabra village, whih is near Rithakhal and Satpuli village in Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand state wherein he was born on 1st September 1975. At the age of five, he shifted to Delhi with his family. He did his schooling frm New Delhi, however, his acting started with a eminent theatre director called Arvind Gaur in 1994. After getting involved with a number of theatre groups doing a number of plays, headed to Mumbai the city of dreams to pursue his dreams of acting in B Town.
Some of the plays include Gaur are Tughlaq, Final Solutions, Andha Yug ,”Desire Under the Elms”, Rakt Kalyan,, “Dario Fo’s Operation Three Star, “Court Martial” and so on. He was also seen in acting in plays like Aao Saathi Sapna Dekhen, Hamaar Baabuji ki chhattri and Aksar Maine Socha Hai. In B Town, he did his debut with movies like Maqbool in 2003, which followed a number of other films like Bombay Summer, Charas: A Joint Operation, The Blue Umbrella, etc. Some of his prominent ones include Delhi 6, Tanu Weds Manu, Mumbai Cutting, etc., while his recent ones include Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Chal Bhaag, etc. His upcoming movies are Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with Salman Khan and the other one called Lollypop Since 1947, which is just announced.
As far as awards are concerned, he was nominated in a number of awards and even have won a couple of them. In 2007 he Won the Filmfare Special Performance Award for the film Omkara by Vishal Bharadwaj, while in 2012, he was given the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) under the Best Performance category in a Comic Role for film Tanu Weds Manu for his character Pappi ji. In 2010, he was awarded for the Best actor in negative role in Apsara Awards for the movie called Gulal. As far as his personal life is concerned, he is married to one of the cinema directors called Lara Bhalla.
