Govind Arun Ahuja is popularly known as Govinda in Bollywood, who is a known a film actor and a former politician as well. He is one of the most versatile actors in the B Town who has played a number of characters in movie ranging from serious roles to comedy, action and dance. He hails from Vasai, Mumbai and born and brought up in the yesteryear actor Arun Kumar Ahuja , while his mother was a known singer and actress called Nirmala Devi. He did his schooling from Vasai and later went to Annasaheb Vartak College wherein he did his Bcom. After completing his education, he started his journey to enter in Bollywood.

At that time, Disco Dance movie has turned out to be a big hit, which became his obsession. He dance for hours and even made his film to circulate the VHS cassette among the filmmakers, which gave him his first Fertilizer Ad and later the Allwyn ad. Eventually, he got the leading role for the movie Tan Badan, which was directed by his own uncle called Anand. He then got the movie called Love 86 and soon got many. His first released movie was Ilzaam, which turned out to be a big hit at the box office. The song street dancer did waves among the youth and became his first important breakthrough in his career, which helped him to carve his niche as a dancer.

All his movies in eighties were based on action, family drama and romance and was known to have a good chemistry with Neelam. Some of his hits in eighties include Jeete Hain Shaan Se, Dariya Dil, Jung Baaz, Marte Dam Tak, and Hum he also worked with Sri Devi and Rajnikant called Ghair Khanooni, which was a big hit. In the nineties, he then got recognition in the comic roles with movies like Shola Aur Shabnam opposite Divya Bharti. Some of his hit comedy movies include Hero No.1 Collie No.1, Raja Babu, Aankhen, Haseena Maan Jayegi (which even gave him a Filmfare award), Anari No.1, etc. In the 2000 he continued with the comic role based movies, which included the hit ones like Waah Tera Kya Kehna, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, etc. The latter was the movie wherein he was seen in different roles including his father, mother, sister and even granma and dad as well.

He was associated with all the No.1 series movie mostly by Satish Kaushik unlike the way Akshay Kumar is known to play in Khiladi series. However, in the 2000’s, a majority of his movies was flop, which finally ended with Bhagam Bhag followed by Partner, Life Partner and Raavan. His upcoming movie is Kill DIl, while some of his recent movies include Deewana Main Deewana, and Samadhi, which however, turned a big flop. After Kill DIl, he will be seen in Saif Ali Khan’s movie called Happy Ending. Besides, he keeps on appearing in various popular TV shows including Comedy Nights With Kapil, Mad In India, etc. He also has been awarded with different awards including receiving Mother Teresa International Award in 2011.

Apart from acting and doing a number of films, he is also active in Indian National Congress and was even elected as MP of Mumbai north constituency of MS. He defeated his rival Ram Naik with huge margin. However, during his tenure, people complained about him for remaining inaccessible in his constituency. Hence in the next election, he voluntarily opted out from the election focussing on Films. Besides, he was also seen doing a couple of music videos, his recent one was called Gori Tere Naina With Pooja Bose. His daughter Narmada is all set to make the debut in Bollywood soon.
