Kalki 2898 AD Box Office: Prabhas-Starrer Sees 43% Drop in Day 2 Nett Collection, Earns Rs 149 Cr
After a phenomenal global box office debut, Kalki 2898 AD experienced a decline in earnings on its second day, pulling in Rs 54 crore, a 43% drop from its impressive opening day collection of Rs 95.3 crore in India alone. The Telugu version of the film witnessed the sharpest decline, with collections plummeting from Rs 65.8 crore on day one to Rs 25.65 crore on day two, despite maintaining a solid occupancy rate of 65.02%. On the other hand, the Hindi release remained steady at Rs 22.5 crore each day, as reported by box office tracker Sacnilk.
Kalki 2898 AD was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. In Tamil, it initially earned Rs 4.5 crore, slightly dropping to Rs 3.5 crore. Kannada witnessed a modest increase from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh. In Malayalam, the film accumulated a total of Rs 4.4 crore over the first two days, with Rs 2.2 crore on day one and Rs 2 crore on day two. Overall, the film grossed Rs 149.3 crore nett in India by the end of its second day.Despite the dip in earnings, expectations for the film remain high, with forecasts predicting a Rs 500 crore weekend.
Kalki 2898 AD’s stellar opening surpassed the global debut of KGF 2, ranking third behind RRR and Baahubali 2. While the latter films amassed Rs 382 crore and Rs 350 crore respectively by this stage, Kalki 2898 AD shows potential to challenge those records. Internationally, the film grossed $7 million in North America.Featuring a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, among others, Kalki 2898 AD also includes cameos by SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Deverakonda, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the film.
