Kalki 2898 AD’s Priciest Ticket at ₹2300: Is It Costlier Than Jawan?

Kalki 2898 AD, a highly anticipated sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin, is set to release in theaters on Thursday. The movie boasts an impressive star cast with renowned names from both Bollywood and the South Indian film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. The film has generated significant buzz, leading to tickets for Kalki 2898 AD being sold at exorbitant prices, reaching up to ₹2,300 in cities like Mumbai. The Maison INOX: Jio World Plaza in BKC is offering “Lux Superior” tickets for the night show in Hindi on June 27. Additionally, Maison INOX: Jio World Plaza’s Drive-IN is selling ₹2,000 tickets over the weekend.
Interestingly, this is not the first time ticket prices for a highly anticipated film have soared. In September 2023, tickets for Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan were priced as high as ₹2,400 due to the immense buzz surrounding the Atlee-directed movie. Jawan, which followed Shah Rukh’s blockbuster Pathaan, was released approximately eight months later.The Andhra Pradesh government has given permission to increase ticket prices for Kalki 2898 AD. As per a government order, single-screen theaters can now charge ₹75 per ticket, while multiplexes can go up to ₹125. Additionally, the government has allowed for five shows per day to be screened for a period of 14 days after the film’s release, as opposed to the usual four. This decision is expected to boost the film’s revenue and further enhance its status as one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
The Telangana government has also approved additional shows and increased ticket prices for Kalki 2898 AD.Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is a post-apocalyptic film inspired by Hindu scriptures and set in the year 2898 AD. Alongside the star-studded cast, Disha Patani also plays a role in the film. Recently, a new trailer was unveiled, featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Ashwathama, engaging in a conversation with Deepika Padukone’s character, where he utters the powerful line, “They say the whole universe resides within God. But God himself resides in your womb.”
