Maa Kaali Teaser: Raima Sen Starrer Explores Bengal’s Horrific Past on the 78th Anniversary of Direct Action Day

After almost eight decades, the makers of Karthikeya 2, People Media Factory, along with director Vijay Yelakanti, are bringing the untold story of the Direct Action Day and Naokhali Massacres to light through their film Maa Kaali. Starring Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh, the teaser dropped recently, transporting viewers back to the tragic events of Direct Action Day, exposing the brutal massacres in Bengal and the subsequent ripple effect that led to the partition of India. Slated for release this year, coinciding with the 78th anniversary of this unfortunate event, Maa Kaali pays tribute to the lives lost during the ruthless genocide.
The film showcases the conspiracy, riots, and political machinations that contributed to the largest human crisis of the 20th century, shedding light on its long-lasting impact. With a focus on a Hindu family reliving the horrors of this monstrous tragedy, the teaser aims to unveil the motives, processes, and aftermath of the demand for the partition of India. The makers boldly assert, “Unplug the earphones. Let the Truth be Heard, LOUD and CLEAR,” as the teaser begins to play. Depicting the communal turmoil that engulfed the nation, particularly Bengal, the teaser captivates audiences with its compelling storyline, impactful dialogues, and poignant visuals. From the heart-wrenching moment of wiping the tikka off little Hindu girls’ foreheads to the shattering sight of the Maa Kaali idol being destroyed, these images leave a lasting impression.
Raima Sen, expressing her connection to the story as a Bengali, shares that the atrocities faced by their people deeply resonate with her. Despite her background, she admits to being unaware of many details surrounding this heartbreaking event. Consequently, when this film came her way, she felt a moral responsibility to narrate the truth of Direct Action Day.Abhishek Singh, an IAS officer turned actor, emphasizes that Maa Kaali sheds light on one of the most significant and relevant events in history, a tragedy that remains largely unknown to this day. Through this film, the team aims to raise awareness about the genocide that shook the entire nation. Written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti, Maa Kaali is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, co-produced by Vivek Kuchibhotla, and presented by the makers of Karthikeya 2, People Media Factory.
