Plot : Rani Mukherji has played versatile roles from being a blind girl in Black to portraying a headstrong journalist in No One Killed Jessica to being a grieving mother in her last film Talash, but this time, she will be seen in an all-new bold role. The diva will be seen in a never seen before avatar playing the role of a cop in the film and since this will be her first release post marriage there is a lot of excitement at Yash Raj Films for this project.
Spokesperson of Mardaani says, “The central subject of the film is based on human trafficking. Writers have drawn inspiration from reality however no one knows which cases have been incorporated in the film.”While the script was being developed, the team working on it went back to older police files to incorporate it in the script of Mardaani.
Rani will be seen in the lead role essaying the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy, a police officer in a Mumbai Crime Branch unit. Shivani takes on the case of human trafficking in which a girl is kidnapped by the mafia and the mafia kingpin smuggles the girl outside the city. Clever at picking up hidden clues and bold in confronting hardened criminals with dangerous wild chase, Shivani tries to catch the mafia fearlessly and what follows is a cat and mouse game between a ruthless mafia kingpin and a tough cop. Rani also met Mumbai Police Crime Branch Chief as a part of research for her role in the movie.
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by darling hubby Aditya Chopra, Mrs Chopra’s film will be released on 22 August 2014. The film is said to be the boldest movie under the YRF banner till date.
