Plot

As said, the film is based on the life of ODI captain of Indian Team MS Dhoni showcasing his personal and professional life. It has shown how his passion for playing cricket overshadowed the traditional dreams of his parents giving him a big name and the place Ranchi he belongs to. Though the director has added a couple of elements to boost up the entertainment value of the film, yet in a big way the film has portrayed reality a lot than fiction. Shushant plays the lead character in the film while Kiara Advani is playing the wife of Dhoni and Disha Patani plays the character of Dhoni’s ex-girlfriend. Bhumika Chawla plays Dhoni’s sister, who is seen after a long gap in the movie.

Review

Biopics though can be simple to make but can be difficult if the person whom you are making is around and a well-known figure. So, in this case when we have a movie made on Dhoni, people knew a lot about him, he is still a legend hence the filmmaker has pay a lot of attention on these aspects to embark with quality movie. In a sense, Neeraj Pandey has done justice in making the biopic the way it should come and thanks to Shushant Singh Rajput who left no stone unturned to help the film get the best of the performance over the silver screen as the character deserves. One might the film very much predictable but there are many unpredictable things, which Pandey has portrayed at right time which justifies the tag of untold story attached to the film.

Star performances

Shushant Singh Rajput has nailed it with his incredible performance. His slogging and hard work has paid off when one can see his performing so well. His patience in learning a lot about Dhoni can be easily be visible over the silver screen, which has made him nail the character so well in the movie. Despite not coming from a cricketing background, he learnt all the signature styles from close buddy of Dhoni – Kiran More who coached him to learn things perfectly. The others in the film like Kiara or Disha has limited screen space and have performed okay over the film. Also, Rajesh Sharma and Anupam Kher playing the character of Dhoni’s coach and his father respectively too have done justice to the characters they have played. All in all, the actors have done justice to the characters allotted in the film.

Direction, Music and other elements

Direction for the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is par we know Neeraj Pandey an accomplished filmmaker. He works on every fine details of the film and allow the characters to as per the whims and fancies of the roles so that what comes at the end of the day is highly applauding and justifying. He has left no stone unturned to direct the film the way it deserved to come on the silver screen. Shushant has finely backed his direction skills giving the same results he always wanted from the actor. Talking about the music, few of the tracks are good from film though the overall music isn’t that impressive. The screenplay, editing and other technical elements are seen simply the best over the silver screen.  The editing and other technical elements too remained par the way these wanted over the silver screen.

MS Dhoni: The untold Story – Last Word

The film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is indeed a nice film in terms of performance though it has a number of elements, which are predictable and known to the audience yet can be impressive to watch the film. Thanks to the incredible performance by Shushant who has actually nailed with his dexterity and skills sets. In a sense the film has loads of things, which justifies higher rating in the media.

Rating – 4.0
