He is born and brought in Mumbai; in a non-Bollywood, background with his father was into a pharmacy business and mom the advertising professional. He was brought up in a Sindhi-Marathi blend background making him a typical Mumbai guy. He did his schooling from Green Lawns High School, while had his masters in Chemistry from the popular college of Mumbai called St. Xaviers. Interestingly, he was not very much keen to make his career in films, hence was even doing his masters in a different subject, but destiny has its own plan for him.

In fact, he even helped the director with the movie’s screenplay. He then headed to Dharma Productions wherein he assisted Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar and later even to Karan Johar in a couple of movies including Kuch Kuch sizzlinga Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. He even had a small cameo in of the movies of Johar wherein he is seen with Farah Khan in the Neelam’s show in the movie Kuch Kuch sizzlinga Hai. He also assisted Karan Johar in Kal Ho Naa Ho starring SRK and Preity Zinta. This movie was one of the biggest hits of Bollywood in 2003 giving him a boost as well.

His debut directorial venture was a movie called Salaam E Ishq, which happens to be a multi-starrer movie with so many actors from B Town, including Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, John Abraham, Akshay Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Priyanka Chopra, Ayesha Takia, Vidya Balan, etc. The movie got a mixed review about the script and his direction as well. his next movie was Akshay Kumar starrer Chandni Chowk To China in 2009, which was simply a big bizarre. He also produced one movie called Jaane Kaha Se Aayi Hai, which went average at the box office. His other movies include Patiala House, Delhi Safari, D Day, etc. while his upcoming movies include Hero and Katti Batti. The former is all set to hit this December, while the latter is in making. Most of the movies he directed, he also was seen giving its script as well. Apart from directing movies and writing scripts, he is also seen over the judge panel of few beauty pageants and festivals like India Film Project last year (2013).
