He comes to realize this when he makes a return journey to his hometown from New York City after staying there for 12 years. The movie revolves around the friendship and the memorable moments involved in this journey shared by best friends. Purani Jeans opens up on a Summer Season where the protagonist Sidharth Ray (played by Tanuj Virwani) rediscovers his friendship with his best friend Samuel Joseph (played by Aditya Seal) along with their group of friends. Rechristened as Sid and Sam, the protagonists experience a variety of emotions including love, friendship, jealousy, envy, trust, joy and the most important one, love. The movie recounts a summer where everything changes for these best friends. They recall the anguish and elation of growing up and how they end up together becoming a gang of friends. They deal with their distant parents; anxiety of growing up, broken hearts and eventually, they choose different ways in their lives. Sid rediscovers his old friends and makes peace with Sam, his best friend. All these events end up making Sid a better human being. He reconciles with his turbulent past and returns to New York City with friendship in his heart.
