Raees and Kabil had released last week on Wednesday. After completion of it’s first week, there are collection figures indicating that Shahrukh Khan starrer Raees did a much better business than Hrithik’s Kaabil at the box office. Both the national and international collections show a clear winner, Raees, leaving behind the other one. Well, this proves trade prediction right that had touted Raees to emerge the higher grosser in the clash.
In the beginning of the year 2017, the two big films clashed at the box office. It was the first time that SRK and Hrithik’s film clashed at the box office and there was curiosity to see which one will be a bigger hit. It isn’t right just to weigh a film considering only the collection figures and so it is right to say that Raees has fared well only in this aspect. Raees met with criticism by critics calling it just another gangster movie with no novelty. Whereas Hrithik starrer Kaabil lived up to the expectations of the audience. It was a revenge thriller and the presence of two blind protagonists made it even more intriguing.
The total collection of Raees after it’s first week of release is 224.34 crore internationally. Inside India, the film collected 1503.21 crore. While Kaabil is lagging behind and has made uptill 135 crore in it’s first week. According to reports, the film did a decent business nationally but got only average response in oversees market. SRK, being a well known name among NRI Indians, has a bigger fan following internationally which benefited Raees. The theatre occupancy rate of Raees was much higher especially in Dubai and UK.
