Before some days, the news reports stated that the filmmaker Karan Johar is soon arriving with the remake of Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’ (2016). The Hindi remake will mark the Bollywood debut of Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor opposite Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar, who is also debuting with this film. Jhanvi has commenced taking dance and acting classes, reportedly.

The movie was supposed to begin its shoot from a long time but it wasn’t happening due to some reasons. Finally, the remake of ‘Sairat’ will start rolling in the next month and it will be set in North India.

The original Marathi movie ‘Sairat’ directed by Nagraj Manjule became the first Marathi film to earn Rs. 100 crore at the box-office. The flick raked in loads of praises from the audience as well as from Bollywood personalities. The movie narrated the story of college buddies Archi and Parshya, who belong to different castes, fall in love with each other and finally they become victim of stringent practice of casteism. This musical romantic saga featured Rinku Rajguru and Akshay Thosar in the lead role.

The Hindi remake will be directed by Shashank Khaitan and will hit the screens in 2018. Prior to this, Shashank has helmed the films like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ that garnered decent success at the ticket window.
