Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a popular model and actress of South Indian films. she was born on 28th April 1987 in Chennai and raised in the same city. She had learnt both in Tamil and English at home and as a part of education, she went to Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and then went to Stella Maris College in Chennai doing her graduation, however, she started working as a model working for Naidu Hall and then was spotted with Ravi Varman the filmmaker. Initially she started getting offers from film but she preferred to stick to modeling assignments till she waited to become mature enough to go for the same.
She started her professional film career with the Telugu movie called Ye Maaya Chesave in the year 2010 and simultaneously she was seen in a Tamil film called Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. She was applauded for her performance in the Telugu film. She then became the part of the World Classical Tamil Conference 2010 promotional song called Semmozhiyaana Tamizh Mozhiyaam, which was directed by Menon and composed by Rahman. Her next release was the romantic drama film called Baana Kaathadi the same year, which was seen opposite to Adharvaa wherein she played the role of student of NIFT. Her next venture was Moscowin Kavery released the same year.
She then headed towards big budget Telugu movie like Dookudu that released in the year 2012 with Mahesh Babu that turned out to be a huge successful film in Telugu. Her film Nadunisi Naaygal released in 2011 was seen in the Hindi version film called Ekk Deewana Tha in 2012. She then went on to do a Telugu-Tamil bilingual venture called Eega. Some of her movies include Naan Ee, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Nithya Vasudevan, Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Something Something to name a few. Some of her recent movies include A Aa , Brahmotsavam, TheriMithra, 24 and Bangalore Naatkal to name a few.
Her upcoming films include Vada Chennai and Janatha Garage. As far as awards are concerned, she has won a number of awards including Ye Maaya Chesave from CineMAA Awards, Filmfare, Vijay Awards, etc. for the film Ye Maaya Chesave. Other films for which she got these awards include Eega, Attarintiki Daredi, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Anjaan / Kaththi and Manam to name a few. In her career of 5 years, she has won 16 different awards and has emerged out as one of the highly paid actress in south India.
She is also engaged in Philanthropy and charitable acts apart from endorsing a number of brands including the top ones in lifestyle and other domains. She owns her own NGO called Pratyusha Support that works in the medical support for women and kids in the year 2012. She donates all her earnings that come along with endorsements, inauguration events, products, etc. to support her NGO. As far as her personal life is concerned, she was in relationship with the actor Siddharth, however, the couple soon chose to split to remain single in this domain.
