Sara Khan played the role of Sadhana Rajvansh in the one time very popular show on Star Plus Bidaai-Sapna Babul Ka.. The show recorded high TRps in those days and the character of Sadhana was a very popular one. The serial based on family values and love between two sisters Sadhana and Ragini was endearing. Sara Khan won many awards for portraying the character of Sadhana who was a well intentioned and cultured Indian girl who is willing to sacrifice her life for her family. Her pairing with Angad was nominated for the most popular Jodi.

Before she stepped into acting, Sara had modeled for the ramp and advertisements. She was the Miss Bhopal in 2007, from where she was picked up for the serial Bidaai. In 2008, she played a leading role in a lesser known film Midsummer Midnight Mumbai which was directed by Braj Bhushan. But the film hardly gave her any fame. It was later , for her appearance in reality shows that this talented girl got further recognition. 2010 was significant for her career for she joined the controversial celebrity reality show Big Boss on Colors. She and another TV actor Ali Merchant became involved during the show. Interestingly the two got married soon after the show got over. A big Controversy broke out when the two filed for divorce only after two months of their marriage. Questions were raised about the genuiness of the reality show. Both the actors alleged foul play on each other and their families and it became an infamous marriage.It was alleged that the Channel Colours paid the stars a heavy sum to get married to prove that the intimacy shown between the two on the show was genuine. Though both the actors and the channel deny these charges, Ali Merchant once accept on another reality show that it was merely for publicity that the two tied the knot. Their marriage remains the most controversial marriage of TV stars till date.

Sara Khan , was reportedly injured in a car accident recently. Later she was reported to be safe sustaining only minor injuries. In May 2013, her movie Sawariyaan- Khatu Shyam Ki Amar Gatha released in which she starred opposite Ashmit Patel. In the movie she also danced on an item number. Unfortunately the film bombed at the box office because of low publicity. This low profile film did not even get distributors and went totally unnoticed by the public.
