Sarfira Pre-Release Business: Music Rights for Akshay Kumar’s Film Sell for 2.8 Times More Than Original Soorarai Pottru Deal, Setting a New Record

Akshay Kumar’s recent dry spell at the box office may come to an end soon with his upcoming film, “Sarfira,” which also stars Radhika Madan in the lead role. Scheduled to release on July 12, the film tells the extraordinary story of a common man who dares to dream big. It is an official remake of Suriya’s Tamil film, “Soorarai Pottru.”The film’s pre-release business has been in full swing, and according to the latest reports, Junglee Music has acquired the music rights for this highly anticipated Hindi film. Produced by Abundantia Entertainment and presented by Cape of Good Films, “Sarfira” seems to be another promising collaboration for Junglee Music, known for their successful partnerships with Akshay Kumar on films like “Welcome” and “Singh is Kinng.

Interestingly, the original film, “Soorarai Pottru,” had its music rights sold for 3.5 crore. It is hoped that Akshay Kumar’s Hindi remake, directed by Sudha Kongara, has secured an even better and more lucrative deal for “Sarfira.”The soundtrack of “Sarfira” features renowned singers such as Shreya Ghoshal, Mika Singh, and Neeti Mohan, with music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, Tanishk Bagchi, and Suhit Abhyankar.Prior to “Sarfira,” Akshay Kumar’s film “OMG 2” struck a good deal with Zee Music, with the music rights of the social drama, which also stars Pankaj Tripathi, being acquired for 10 crore.Expressing her excitement about the music rights deal, director Sudha Kongara said, “‘Sarfira’ aims to be a musical marvel that not only entertains but also leaves a lasting impact on the viewers’ hearts.

The soundtrack is diverse and will connect with fans across segments.”It remains to be seen if “Sarfira” has matched or even surpassed the music rights deal of “OMG 2.” To match the number, the film’s music rights would have to be sold for 2.8 times higher than that of “Soorarai Pottru.” However, the exact amount of the deal has not been disclosed yet, so it is too early to predict whether Akshay Kumar could surpass the music rights deal of “Soorarai Pottru” and outshine the success of “OMG 2.”
