Song Review: “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” – Maithili Thakur’s Immature Voice Falls Short of Capturing Tabu & Ajay Devgn’s Heartbreaking Love Story in “Kisi Roz”!

Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s poignant love story, “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha,” is set to grace theaters on July 5. The film, directed by Neeraj Pandey, has released a new song titled “Kisi Roz,” sung by Maithili Thakur and composed by MM Kreem. The lyrics for the song have been penned by Manoj Muntashir, marking the third musical offering from this love saga. Earlier, the songs “Ae Dil Zara” and “Tu” did not reach their peak. While “Tu,” a song about Lord Krishna, is inspired by Chhand, “Ae Dil Zara” resonated with audiences. Unfortunately, the latest song, “Kisi Roz,” sung by Maithili Thakur, fails to strike a chord with listeners, primarily due to the mismatch between the singer’s voice, the lyrics, and the intended emotions.
While Manoj Muntashir’s lyrics delve into the depths of heartbreak, the voice fails to do justice to the emotion. The choice of the singer by MM Kreem is to blame for the underwhelming impact of “Kisi Roz.” The weighty lyrics and Maithili’s folk voice struggle to convey the warmth needed to either soothe the pain of heartbreak or journey alongside it as a companion.Perhaps, it is not only Maithili’s open, coarse voice that contributes to the song’s lack of appeal, but also the absence of pathos that renders “Kisi Roz” from “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” less striking.
A more mature voice could have enhanced the impact of the lyrics, which convey, “Main Yugon Yogon Ki Trishna Hoon, Tu Meri Ghata O Sahib Ji.”In an attempt to accommodate Maithili Thakur’s voice, the composition leans towards the semi-classical end, yet it fails to harmonize with the choice of words selected by Manoj Muntashir to depict the pain experienced by Tabu and Ajay Devgn’s characters in their journey.Perhaps a haunting voice akin to Jonita Gandhi’s “Ghar” from “Jab Harry Met Sejal” or a soulful rendition like Bhavya Gandhi’s interpretation of Queen’s “Ranjha” could have been a more suitable choice for “Kisi Roz.”It is hopeful that the song will find its place within the narrative of “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha.”
