Zee TV is launching it’s new show Woh Apna Sa from January 23rd. The show will be telecasted in the prime time slot. The serial will be a family drama based on the story of a family consisting of two children, mother, father and a step mother. It is an adaption of the Bollywood film We are Family starring Kareena Kapoor, Kajol and Arjun Rampal. The original story was a Hollywood film StepMom starring Julia Roberts.
Woh Apna Sa stars Riddhi Dogra , Sudeep Sahir and Disha Parmar in the lead roles. The story revolves around these characters and two children from the marriage of Sudeep and Ridhi’s characters. Their life takes a turn when Sudeep and Ridhi’s marriage fall apart and Disha enters Sudeep’s life. Since she also has to be the step mom of the children, Disha tries to learn her lessons in motherhood quite early in her life which gets taxing on her. But despite of the odds, she deals with the situation and makes best efforts to keep peace and harmony in the family while also facing dislike from the children.
For all the three lead actors: Sudeep, Disha and Ridhi , the show will be comeback one. Riddhi was last seen in the show Savitri which went off air after low response. Disha’s mega show Pyaar Ka Dard Hain.. On Star Plus was wrapped up after an initial good response. Also, Sudeep, having worked for about a decade on the small screen, had temporarily disappeared. The show is directed by Siddharth Malhotra who had directed the film We are Family, under the banner of Karan Johar’s production house. So in other words, Siddharth is remaking the story on the small screen.
The show’s promos look very intriguing. As a family drama , the show seems to be having more depth than the usual serials on the channel. It will go air from January 23.
