It is an upcoming Bollywood movie based on crime thriller. Dibakar Banerjee is its director, while Aditya Chopra is its producer along with Dibakar Banerjee Productions and Yash Raj Films. The movie has been based on Byomkesh Bakshi, the famous detective character who had been created by Sharadindu Bandhyopadhyay, a well known Bengali writer. This movie stars Anand Tiwari, Sushant Singh Rajput and Swastika Mukherjee in lead roles. It is scheduled to be released the coming 13th February, 2015. It is said to be the very first live action of all Byomkesh Bakshi movies released in Hindi. Cinematography of the movie had been done by Nikos Andritsakis.
In contemporary interpretation of Kolkata of the 1940s being war torn, the movie follows Byomkesh’s first adventure. Byomkesh is played by Sunshant Singh Rajput. He is fresh out from college and pits against an evil mastermind who is set to destroy the entire world. This is considered to be world’s most villainous enemy that he world has witnessed for a long time, in a world that is engaged with seduction, international political intrigue and murder. The movie also stars Divya Menon, Meiyang Chang, Neeraj Kabi and Aryann Bhowmik.
It was in mid 2013 that Sushant Singh Rajput had been roped for playing the title role. Reports earlier had suggested that Divya Menon, the assistant of Sabsyachi, the fashion designer of international fame would be making debut as actress in the movie as wife of Byomkesh. Rani Mukherje was previously in the cards for becoming the female lead. But Rani had refused to do it, as the role required the character to undertake some bold scenes. Swastika Mukherjee, the Bengali actress was then offered the role. This is a pet project of Dibakar Banerjee, who is interested to provide the country with its very own detective.
