Main Aur Mr. Riight Movie Review

Main Aur Mr. Riight

One of the two movies releasing this Friday is – Main Aur Mr. Riight, which stars Shenaz Treasurwala, Barun Sobti. The duo happens to be the lead stars of the movie apart from Kavi Shastri, Danny Sura, Maia Sethna, Anagha Mane etc. seen in different characters of the movie. The movie is produced by Pooja Gujral and Aseem Rais, while directed by the young man called Adeeb Rais. The music comes from the veteran in the music world of Bollywood, the none other than the singer/musician Bappi Lahiri. The movie falls under romantic comedy genre, while the runtime of Main Aur Mr. Riight is around two hours or 129 minutes to be precise. Now, let’s dig deep into the movie to explore the pros and cons of the movie as under:

As the title of the movie itself proclaims, finding Mr. Right, which is obviously a groom hunt drive being propelled by the lady in the lead role played by the popular VJ, actress, model and travel writer- Shenaz Treasuryvala. She plays the character of Aliya, who happens to be Miss Perfectionist seen on a campaign to find her Mr. Right. On the other side, you have Sukhi played by Barun Sobti, who happens to be a struggling actor having a very reckless persona. The movie showcases certain complicated dynamics about the relationship witnessed in the two along with adding loads of humour in it. The movie is a slice of romance comedy surrounding the lives of eight people seen in the movie. All the eight friends come from different backgrounds and niche areas and are leading a successful career and life. The plot of the movie navigates via one and all the characters of film with bringing out Aliya and Sukhi at the top.

As you see the script or rather the plot, it seems to be an old and obsolete kind of story, which perhaps the part and parcel of the Bollywood movies hitting theatres time and again. Just few months before this movie, you had Amit Shah Ki List made on similar kind of genre. Well, the movie starts with a slow and dull note, with an ideal but idle girl who has nothing but to note and love the perfection in every damn guy whom she meets during her campaign to find her Mr. Right. However, she ends up meeting the weirdest man on earth who is far away from perfection whom she decided to groom and polish to make her Mister Right. Ironically, most of the time, you would find the movie doing too slowly, half backed and weird. The ideas and concepts talked and discussed seemed too wacky to be digested by the audience watching to catch the movie thus giving too many loo breaks.

As far as the performances of the actors are concerned, Shenaz Treasuryvala remained the same old actress speaking Hindi in an English tone trying hard to act in the lady of Miss Perfectionist. She failed to impress in her character of Aliya, while Barun Sobti seemed promising in his debut movie. He is been the heartthrob of TV and has given some incredible performances in daily shows with popular actresses over a number of TV Channels. The others too didn’t score many points in their acting department, as they too remained among the novices. Next comes the music, which came through the music king Bappi Lahiri really seemed incredible, while few of its song are at the top over the chartbuster’s list.

The other aspects like cinematography, editing, locations, etc, remained okay and at most of the time were seen supplementing the movie to a great extent. The director Adeeb Rais, is young of 23 years of age, however, has come a long way working as assistant director at the age of 16 with loads of energy and passion for filmmaking. He was decent in his job especially the way he made Barun Sobti to bring out the most for the character of Sukhi, while about Shenaz, that’s not his fault as the lady seemed lagging behind than the others in the movie. Perhaps, all you can say is that this can be a wrong choice for the film, yet, he managed to do most of his tasks perfectly. That reminds me Farhan Akhtar, who started his journey with hits like Dil Chahta Hai alas, Adeeb may not be lucky to get such a grand opening. Nevertheless, let’s not forget the charm and hard work of this man.

Main Aur Mr. Riight Last Word

Main Aur Mr. Riight is an urban based love story, which simply revolves around a dreamy girl who is amidst her struggle to find her Mr. Right, which she fails to find till she gets a man who is just the opposite to her dream. With this idea, the movie seems to have secluded itself for the urbane and upper middleclass crowd, who could like this movie to some extent. However, Miss Perfect wasn’t seen par on her role, which she was assigned. Overall, the movie is half backed with a couple of lacuna in it, however, at the flipside, the efforts to bring the movie better and smarter doesn’t go waste when you find good performance of Barun Sobti for his character of Sukhi. You can find some entertainment value with this guy and others in the movie.
